No one seems to be too keen on seeing the found footage technique used for the sequel but here's a thought.
The whole point of a found footage technique is to scare without really showing what's terrorizing the people filming. Obviously, they can't film Jason and get away with it. So what if, throughout the footage, the people filming think they are being tracked down by Jason, knowing the story of what happened in the first film. They think Jason survived and is the one hunting them down. When the big reveal happens at the end and we finally catch a glimpse of the person tracking them, it's not Jason but an old woman... Jason's mother.
Bunch of teens go into the forest, armed with cameras, cos one of them intrigued the rest with stories of Jason. They visit the abandoned Camp at Crystal Lake and find signs of activity there, "Could Jason still be alive ?!" They spend the night listening Jason stories. Turns out this evidence was left there by one of the group as a joke. Over the next few days one by one they are picked off and we catch glimpses of Jason in the dead peoples cameras. But it is NOT the sign-leaver doing this, so could Jason REALLY be alive ?! The ending would either be:
(1) All are killed but Jason, Jason removes mask to show it was one of the teens all along, is all smiles and giggles, then get gutted from behind by the real Jason, who then drags off the body setting up for a confirmed sequel, and when I say confirmed I mean concrete confirmed, finances in place, story written, people on board, all signed sealed and ready for deliverance.
or (2) Jason gets killed leaving the lonely survivor, who walks off to safety, only to be cut down from behind by.... you've guessed it, the real Jason, who then drags off the body setting up.....(as above) - kinda mirroring the original with the survivor in the boat floating to safety.
So the 2009 movie is forgotten about, erased from movie history, not referenced at all. The camp fire stories are used to introduce newbies and forgetfuls about the awesomeness of Jason and bits 'n pieces about his previous 'adventures' (please kiss and make up all you holders of different bits of the movie rites), less is more when it comes to showing Jason (even with it being a faJa), and movie HAS to be followed by another.
Not sure which one I like best, faJa turning around and being killed by real Jason would be something though, and leave the audience in a definite high as they walk out the cinema with the words "Jason will return in 2016" one the screen.
