The first 25 minutes is better part of this movie.

The characters were more likable to me and there was actually a creepy atmosphere to it. After the first group dies, the film begins to go down hill. The characters are a bit annoying and overly cliche and just meh...

I agree. The first 25 minutes far surpassed the rest of it. Yes, the characters were awful, but I think the ones introduced later on were actually worse. The rich douchey guy reminded me of the horribly stuck up girl from the 7th film. None of the characters were remotely likable, except for maybe stand-in Clay who wasn't developed at all in the film, and the main girl (not the sister) who I kept wondering why she was friends with the rest of them at all during the entire movie.

The deaths were unremarkable, the whole "she looks like his mom so he's gonna keep her prisoner" plot was stupid as hell, and everything just didn't make sense. He killed the hick guy for stealing his weed? Is that for real?

Hrmm. No. Jason killed the Hick guy because he was easy pickings. Jason was not protecting the Weed.

Jason killed the hick guy, Donnie, because Donnie came back to the barn while Jason was there stealing supplies.

After the first group dies ...
we basically see the same thing repeated with the second group. Talk about working to a formula.🐭
