The whole situation where Tami was in trouble for supposedly suggesting abortion

Was anyone else infuriated when watching that whole storyline play out? The whole time i kept thinking "Why the fuck doesn't Becky and her mother make a statement saying exactly what happened?". Cause during that whole storyline Becky and her mom is never in a single scene backing Tami up or saying anything about what really happened, i mean its in the paper, theres protests outside of school Becky had to know what was going on. Tami was eating a ton of shit cause Becky came to her for advice.

Yet Becky nor her mother step in and take up for Tami, when Tami did absolutely nothing wrong, infact Tami at first talked to Becky about keeping it, it was Becky who said she wanted an abortion, and it was her mother who strongly wanted her to get an abortion, Tami just gave her options, she never swayed her opinion in one way over the other.

I don't think Becky's name was published so no one knew the story was about her, and to make a statement would mean to reveal that to the whole town, and that's really not something you would want to do in some backwards american shithole where abortion is considered something worse than murder and everyone knows each other. You would be harassed and bullied until the end of time (you can already see what happened to Tami who just provided a leaflet but was quite discouraging about it, and who did not even mention it before being explicitly asked). And Tami would understand that.

If you are a guidance counselor and have a confidential conversation with a student, and the media are bothering you about it, then it's not up to the student to save your job, it's up to you to stand up for yourself.
