Smash should have tried harder to hide his stash

In "Little girl I want to marry you" S1/E13 Smash totally FAILs in hiding his juice stash.

His mother didn't even have to try to find it. He should have known how much trouble he would get into if he got caught. As meticulous his mother is she would have found it even if he put it under his mattress. It would have been a far better place than just on the floor beside his bed. He didn't even try to make the effort to hide it.

Speaking of this episode, I have to solidly rank it in the top 5 of my favorite episode list. Everything worked so well in this thing:

The way the episode just came together. The dialog between the characters i.e Smash and his mom, Smash and coach. Jason and Buddy, Jason and Lyla, Jason and Herc and even Matt's dad leaving to go back to war.

Most of all (as always in this great show) the characters believability. The actors made them look so real.

Smash's mom stole every scene she was in during that episode. From her finding the stash, to her going straight to Coach Taylor and giving him that gospel, she was on fire. I actually missed her once Smash's story arc was concluded.

There were some definite misses in this series overall, but those misses pale in comparison to the number of times the show truly "hit" with its audience. Putting the show on Friday nights (when people actually watched football games for real; at least those most likely to watch FNL), it had its budget consistently stripped away from with each and every season, and then the abrupt abandonment at the hands of NBC, the show had a lot of obstacles to overcome.

Still, even through all that, the heart and soul of the show, its characters, and the town of Dillon itself shined through.

As Tim Riggins said, Texas Forever.

I couldn't agree with you more on all counts. Especially this one.

Liz Mikel played Mrs. Williams to a T. She played every scene throughout her time on the show. She was my favorite non-regular on the entire series. She had to keep up with her too easily influenced (ie Waverly and her race baiting and his thinking he needed the drugs) too big for his britches son that clearly needs guidance from someone. Might as well be her since it really is her job as a loving mother. She has it together each and every step of the way.

Second for me is Landry's dad.

The greatest thing about this show are how real the characters are portrayed by the actors throughout the entire show. This episode just jumps out at me. One of my top 5.
