Better than "AvP" in the Extended Version...

I expected the worst, but actually got an O.K. film!

The cinematography, direction, acting, music, storyline were all better than in "AvP" and I saw the Extended Versions of both films.

I don't understand the talk about 'being too dark' etc.: The cinematography was top-notch and it wasn't darker
than the original "Alien" or "Aliens" or "Alien 3".

It was intentional that you couldn't see everything in some scenes: This created tension and suspense.
But you always got what's important.

And I saw this film on a Standard Definition - laptop and not a big cinema screen like it's intended !

It has some truly horrific images like the pregnant woman getting the Alien-treatment…wow.
And the final Alien vs. PredAlien fight is good.

What's really cool about this film is how it presents the US government and the Yutani corporation.
Both are ruthless and can't be trusted.
The US government looks like it's run by Yutani.
I like those subversive and timely ideas.

The screenplay wasn't bad, but it didn't have a central protagonist like all the other "Alien" or "Predator" films.
There was no one to root for really, only an ensemble of more-or-less-interesting people.

That said, I liked what John Ortiz did with his limited part as the Sheriff, he's a good actor.

6/10 - maybe 7/10.
