Now I want to watch the movie again.
Any idea how long it will take to shoot the pilot and air it on TV? Will it happen by the end of this year?

It's not a series.
The Man From Earth Holocene appears to be a sequel, not a series.

It is in fact being shot as a pilot episode. Whether or not it gets picked up for a series is the main question. That's what they're hoping for.
In any case, at least we'll get a TV movie from it at the very least.

I think that was originally the plan, but in my reading it appears that it's now a sequel. Included in my reading is the following:

I suppose it's possible they're only planning to do a sequel film, but from my understanding, that was always the intention of this project. Shoot a tv movie pilot and throw it to the networks to see if there's interest in developing a series.
If they've changed their minds and are only doing a sequel now, they really should inform their kickstarter supporters.

He states it being a 90 minute pilot. So if the series is picked up, it will be considered the first episode. If not, it will just be a sequel tv movie.

I don't know if I like where this is going, but I guess something is better than nothing.
