For 'Torture Porn',,,Hostel lacks actual torture,

OK, the first one we have one guy getting his head cut off, another getting a drill to the leg, his achilles severed and then suddenly gets his throat slit...and the last getting his fingers cut off before escaping, and then a girl getting torched briefly before escaping as well.

The second one Paxton gets his head lopped off, first girl gets the Countess Bathory treatment, Bijou Philips gets her face cut and then who knows what? The protagonist turns the tables and cuts off the guys wanker and then leaves.

I always heard Hostel reffered to as torture porn but was surprised at the lack of actual extended torture. Hostel seems to build up letting you think there is going to be something brutal and difficult to stomach but it either somehow avoids the torture all together, or the victim gets dealt with so quickly that the small amounts of violence leading up to their death werent really torture either, just part of the murder.

All in all...violent, disturbing and nasty movies...but when I heard the term "torture porn"...I always assumed there was going to be LONG scenes of pain, abuse, and non fatal violence. When I finally watched them last week I was just kind of surprised how tentative Roth actually was in terms of showing the victims being abused.

With the amount of money these creeps are paying you gotta assume that if it actually existed...it would make Hostel look like Sesame Street.
