Misses the mark from the first one

It appears they tried too hard to make this one more shocking than the first one. The first one started off light with the guys having fun and enjoying themselves.

Part II seemed "heavy" from the beginning and lacked the "We're having a great time" mood and went straight to "Hmm, something's not right?"

It was better, the gender swap. The first Hostel is basically soft core porn till the third act... boring... Id rather watch Emmannuelle in space.

This one got the blood bath scene which is really beautiful.

Why would it want it to be the same as the first one? So you can complain about how boring, unoriginal, and predictable it was? And complain about it was just made for money (what movie isn't though)?

This one tried a new direction in tone, storyline, and overall style. Whether you like it or not, it tried something different, which is better than repeating the same formula over and over again.

"You're entitled to your wrong opinion. That's fine."

In the first one we were supposed to feel the element of surprise, in the second one, we already know what is going on. Using the same formula would had been weird. The new formula worked just fine.

...and believable with some needing more of a thrill to make it from day to day! ;-/

Sorry, not native speaker and I don't get what you say? It must be an expression. Can you explain please? Forgive my ignorance...

I personally think that's the creepiest part of any horror movie. I like the feeling when we know something feels "off" but the characters just go on with their day as though everything's normal. I think it's the creepiest feeling.
