I would've being interested in seeing more of his Story. His Character was smart about not wanting to contact anyone. Because their connected with everyone, like he said to his Girlfriend before he got his head Chopped Off.
How did Paxton know that the Elite Hunting Club had connections with everyone? He knew that the local cops were in cahoots with them, but it doesn't necessarily follow that they would be well-connected in the States.
But he was still stupid enough to go into a dark, dangerous country on the advice of some total strangers...all to chase some girls. They were already in Amsterdam, for God's sake, which is the sex capital of the world. But it wasn't good enough, so they just had to go into Eastern Czechoslovakia. Paxton wasn't too smart, and they got what they deserved. Compare that to the girls in Part 2, who were innocent and just looking for a relaxing time.
It's just Slovakia, and it isn't a dark, dangerous country. But of course you're right that it's very dumb to travel to some point x in a foreign country at the advice of strangers without doing some research. I think that's part of the point. Western youngsters who have never known trouble in their lives finding out that much of the world isn't so nice (and isn't their bitch but will use them as such if given the chance).
"Deserved" to be tortured and killed because they were Young and wanted to chase girls, like every other 20 something on vacation would want to do? What's wrong with you?
Yes, I was looking forward to seeing how much he changed from Part 1 to Part 2. In Part 1 he was very immature and didn't have a care in the world besides how many girls he could have sex with. But after all his experiences he really would've changed a lot and I think they missed out on letting us see that. But, a lot of horror sequels kill of the main character from the last one so I knew to expect it.
I agree, he was a character who the audience had investment in, and he’d gone on quite a transformative ordeal in the first film, it was a total waste to suddenly behead him. The girls were not nearly as well developed as characters and the movie could have done with someone we cared about attacking/escaping the meat grinder.
I must say, he was a likable character. But regardless, I still thought the movie was good without his character. In fact, I have a difficult time deciding which Hostel I like more...1 or 2. They're both just so satisfying. But he was good enough in the first film.
