I think Shannon really was abused and beaten by her husband

I believe Shannon confided this abuse to Vicki. Vicki then told Kelly at some point. Shannon just wanted to keep it a secret. Shannon's anger comes from both Vicki blabbing and her enemy Kelly knowing the secret.

I was on the HW Facebook page last night and people were posting articles about David abusing Shannon as it is on record (supposedly) and he had to do some kind of probation. It's disgusting. The first time David hit Shannon, she should have knocked him on his ass and left the marriage. If he (or she) hits you once, they will hit you again. My grandmother always told me the story about the one time my grandfather hit her. She had a hot temper and when he hit her, she smashed a picture frame, took the glass and cut him on his throat. Luckily for my grandmother, she didn't kill him and go to prison, but my grandfather never laid a hand on her again. She divorced him soon after.

It's public record...Shannon denied it in this story but I don't think she would have called the police if he hadn't laid a hand on her.

That article doesn't say he hit her. Just the opposite, actually:

Although David, 49, was forced to admit in court that he “willfully and unlawfully used force and violence” against his wife, Shannon told Star magazine, “There was no abuse, no physical anything.”

He later pled guilty to misdemeanor counts of assault and “battery against cohabitant” and was placed on three years of informal probation, during which he completed the batterer’s treatment program.

“We had an argument that was resolved very quickly afterward,” Shannon insisted. “I just thought that if I called the police, the fight would end. We’ve moved on; it’s over and done.”

California Penal Code section 242 defines “simple battery” as having three main elements: (1) unlawful and willful; (2) application of force or violence; (3) upon the person of another. The touching, contact, or force can be accomplished indirectly by causing an object, or someone else, to touch the other person.

So, by this standard, he could have thrown something at her, or pushing past her to leave the room, or any number of things. What Vicki -- the last person in the world anyone should confide in, apparently -- was spreading around was that David hit Shannon. There's no evidence to support that.

According to Vicki she keeps all secrets locked up in a vault. It can't have come from Fort Vicki's mouth, the most loyal friend in the OC!

Someone needs to blow that "vault" up with dynamite! Yep, I went there. Lol ? Bam!

reply

Yup. She's right up there with Fort Tamra. They can begin a secret keeping society.

Seriously? This is a woman who takes a million supplements, embeds crystals in her walls, and runs to a doctor/healer the second she gets a split end. I totally believe she would call 911 over an argument that was getting out of hand. I also believe her when she says David never hit her. There's absolutely nothing on the police records to contradict that claim.

reply

I think it's hard for Shannon to come out of the victim role however, I don't think her becoming a nasty mean girl is the way to go.

reply

You know, I'm not a Shannon fan, but it bothers me to think that she is a battered woman. Who knows if David is still hitting her. It's disturbing and sad. She needs to leave him. I know that is the most dangerous time, but I hope that fear is not the reason why she is staying with that creep. I want to beat his ass myself, let him know how it feels.

reply

I'm not a shannon fan either but it really bothers me that someone would use domestic violence as a retort in an argument. kelly is disgusting.

Especially if she doesn't know or even care if it's true or not. She takes it to a whole new low and plays the victim once people gang up on her and claims she doesn't understand how it gets to where it does.

reply

Yea she definitely gets *beep* from them but she does herself no favors with the crap that comes out of her mouth. She's just as much to blame.

In my town there's a Domestic Violence Woman's Shelter (a good place to donate all those hotel room extra shampoos, conditioners, soaps and lotions to for women who escape with nothing) and they have classes about the cycle of abuse. I think if any women ever reports abuse or is a victim of it they should have to attend the classes. Mandatory. There's also group therapy for free so women know that they are not alone in their plight and can feel safe sharing their experiences. They also (depends on your area) take donations of luggage, clothes (both adult and child), toys and of course funds to keep their doors and secret shelters open. Hey, it's better than the charity offered by Vicki!

reply

Amen!! I love donating to the women's shelter near us. The hotel amenities are a great thing to give, and when shopping at discount stores it is so easy to just pick up a bunch of basic supplies that are on sale!! Most shelters publish a list of items they are in need of!
Another worthy organization is the Dress For Success group ( or similar) - they collect clothing donations that women can wear for job interviews!

reply

Everyone in my family (some friends too) give me all of their samples and amenities and when I have a bunch I go to the Dollar Tree and buy the cheap 3 for a buck gift bags. Then I put all alike items in a pile on my dining room table and make gift bags. I usually make about 2 dozen at a time. I can even get razors on sale, samples from perfume and make up counters and make them all a "welcome to your new life" gift bag. You can even write encouraging notes to help give them hope and let them know that they are worth caring about (many suffer from self esteem issues). I also like the dress for success idea. Unfortunately my clothes are more geared to children's sizes, and I don't work in a suit or dressy atmosphere but I totally support what they're doing. Another great idea Juliegirl.

I agree. Shannon should leave David but is trying for their girls.. maybe. She may fear being alone, too.
I'm sure it will come out soon.

reply

Wait, so Shannon lied on last night's episode? That can't be possible because as Shannon had already claimed, she "doesn't lie".

lmao

reply

I agree. It was interesting how she reacted. Nothing like how one would react if it was a complete lie. When she cried and said, "how dare you! I've fought for my family! He renewed his vows to me!" made it clear it was true.

reply

She sure overreacts over anything said about her so-called renewed-vow marriage. It's telling. Personally, I'd love to see her off the show, I never found her interesting at all.

reply

If he didnt hit her, why not plea "no contest"? He plead GUILTY! And 3 years is a long time for probation!

reply

Shannon can save her family; fine, but she made "Trumpian" mistake of saying aloud "I don't lie about anything!" No one can say something like that with this group of blabbermouths! 

reply

Yea that's really true. Him pleading guilty speaks for itself..

Because in California (and elsewhere) "battery" doesn't have to mean hitting. Battery can mean he threw a pillow at her. Battery can mean he brushed past her on his way out the door. As a judge on "Hot Bench" succinctly put it this week, "Assault is when I throw my cell phone at you; battery is when the phone hits you." So pleading guilty to battery does NOT "prove" that he hit her -- not even close.

reply

You're right. If her "renewed" marriage does not work out, Shannon looks even more like a total fool for taking David back! She just doesn't want to look bad in front of the other ladies.
