Shannon is clearly miserable and in a horrible marriage. David is too weak to leave her for whatever reason... Another poster said this, but its so obvious to me... Shannon is channeling all her rage about her horrible life and marriage and putting it towards Vicki. Your friend lied to you about their boyfriend and is a shady friend, who cares? Its not that big of a deal. They were only friends for like one year anyway. Why so much energy expended on a one year friendship? Shannon is treating Vicki with the rage she should be showing a lover who cheated on her... Oh wait? Her husband did.
