No, KDudd, not having any DUI's doesn't mean you're not an alcoholic

Kelly thinks because she hasn't gotten any DUI's that means she's not an alcoholic. Her mandatory AA attendance seem to have little good for her. She probably sat there thinking everyone else there at the "classes" was so much worse than her.
The fact that a court ordered her to attend AA, and to get anger management counseling is pretty indicative that she has issues.
The woman is feral.

I really don't think she has a drinking problem. I don't see her drinking every day (could be wrong). I also don't see her sitting at home by herself with a bottle of vodka and chugging away. The issue here is that they film them at social events, where most people do drink and some overdo it, but it doesn't necessarily mean they are alcoholics.

^^^ ITA! She's just not articulating why she thinks she isn't a drunk! Kelly took great offense to Shannon trying to "liquor" her up on that vacation to Ireland and showed restraint quite easily! She saw right thru what was being done! After that, I'm done with Shannon! Anything that happens to the old b!tch is fine by me! Always playing "Miss Innocent" and there she was trying to stir up some drama! 

you don't have to drink everyday to have a drinking problem. if you are excessive whenever you drink, you have a problem. when you go batchit crazy on people on top of that, you have a REAL problem.

reply

People don't like acknowledging this because a lot of people have negative relationships with alcohol but it's either brushed off or normalized.

reply

too true!

reply

Alcoholics don't necessarily drink every day or alone, but not being able to stop or control yourself when you do is indicative of a problem. And if you get aggressive or violent or angry whenever you drink, you need to cut it out because it's clearly not for you and you can't handle it. She may not be a full blown alcoholic but she has a negative relationship with alcohol, I think that's obvious.

reply

She could have a drinking problem, but I have no idea because I don't see her all the time. However, I do think she has some type of "allergic" reaction to alcohol because she seems to go nuts when she drinks. There's a movie called Final Analysis with Kim Basinger (it's really good, Richard Gere and Eric Roberts are in it too) and the Kim Basinger character goes nutso if she drinks alcohol. My father was like that too (I have lots of alcoholics in my family). When he drank, his entire personality changed and he became a deranged, lunatic. Some people just can't drink, ever.

reply

Karma, what about Kim Basinger in "Blind Date"? Talk about reacting to booze!

reply

Yes! Just the other movie is was thinking of as I was reading Karma's comment. Only difference... Blind Date was a comedy, right?

reply

Plus having a bar on every floor of her house - what is that? If you need to be that close to the liquor, you have a problem.

reply

Does that mean Heather is an alcoholic for having a button in her closet that notifies her staff to bring her champagne every time she pushes it?

reply

An alcoholic is someone who depends on alcohol to get through their day, hides their drinking. I don't think that's Kelly. I do think she is unable to control herself while under the influence and is a belligerent drunk.

She's like that annoying friend who takes things too far when the booze comes out.

^^^ This! 

reply

That's exactly how I see her as well. She's not an alcoholic, she just tends to have a tough time controlling her emotions and reactions when she DOES drink

reply

One doesn't have to hide their drinking to be an alcoholic.

reply

Not every addict hides their drinking or drug use. Just because she doesn't hide it, diesnt mean she doesn't have a problem. Not all addicts are the same. Kelly clearly depends on alcohol and has a ddrinking problem.

reply

I'm not saying Kelly is an alcoholic, but her rationale that not having a DUI certainly doesn't mean she isn't. She and Michael have both commented that they need to cut back on their drinking ( which CAN be a sign in itself). Kelly's personal and professional relationships have been negatively impacted by alcohol, and she obviously has very little control of herself while drinking. I saw several recent videos of Kelly making a fool of herself and a mockery of her marriage while drunk.
The fact that she was ordered by the court to attend AA and undergo anger management therapy is a huge red flag for an alcohol problem.

reply

I didn't take it that Kelly was saying she isn't an alcoholic because she doesn't have a DUI. She was simply trying to clarify that she did not have a DUI and that she is not an alcoholic.
I could easily see a judge mandating AA if someone got into some trouble while drunk.
That doesn't mean the judge did his research to find out if she really has an actual addiction to alcohol.

reply

I don't see any alcohol dependancy with Kelly. I just think she's a *beep* when she drinks and it gets her in trouble. That doesn't mean she has a drinking problem, but it does mean she should be more careful in monitering herself but she just doesn't want to do that because she doesn't care. In short, she's just an *beep* not an alcoholic.

Your future is all used up

reply

She did not say she is not an alcoholic because she doesn't have any DUI's. Someone else ( I think Andy) had asked her if she did and then she went into a story about not being an alcoholic and included she didn't have any DUI's. She tried to continue on, but got cut off.

reply

Exactly! 
