And the actress who played her(Margaret Avery)? Seems awful young for celebrating a 50th anniversery. 30th would have been more realistic if you ask me.

This brings up an interesting point.
Papa Jankins probably married her when she was about 12 years old. That would make him about 18 years older. Which means he was 30 and she was 12.
It was the south it wasn't frowned upon and Papa Jenkins went with it.
This certainly makes the backstory of the Jenkins family very disturbing.
