How can Cabot be on this show?!

I don't know if this has already been discussed, but how is it even possible that Cabot could be on this show!? on SVU, she was shot at and had to be put into witness protection. when that happens, they obviously change your name, move you to a different area that is only discolsed to a few people, and probably (im not sure on this one) have you work in a different field. So why would they bring her back, with the same name, in the same city, doing the same job, but in a different light than in SVU? it doesn't make sense. i havent seen much of this show, and i thought that i had seen the pilot, but if not, does anyone know if this was explained in anyway?

I agree, this doesn't make any sense. just watching the pilot episode on Hallmark and I'm very confused.

I hear the show was cancelled after 1 season in the US. Maybe it was because they got so many viewers asking this same question and decided to get rid of Cabot once and for all.

Wasn't the guy who was threating Cabot convicted or something (when she came back and testified) and that would make her be able to leave Witness Protection? If that was the case, they should've done an SVU/Conviction crossover (if they did one, my apologies, I can't remember), that would've helped "Conviction's" ratings. Plus, I didn't think Cabot had much of a role on Conviction, even though she should've been the main character. Those are just my thoughts anyway. :)

Yep, she came out of witness protection to testify against the guy who shot her, and he was convicted so it was assumed she didn't go back into witness protection.

Yeah. She came back to testify, but then they placed her back in witness protection at the end of the episode.

So it would definitely not make sense for her to be an ada again.

Agent Hammond says at the end of the episode, 'Ghost' "Alex and Antonio are being moved to new identities. She asked me to say 'Goodbye'." That probably isn't word for word, but it's close.
And the reason she was put back in Witness Protection was because yes, the man who actually shot her is in prison, but he was acting on the orders of the drug lord she went after in 'Loss'. He could simply hire someone else to get her, just like someone attempted to kill Antonio while the man who killed his parents and tried to kill him, and Alex as well, was in custody.

i dont remember which episode it was in, but Cabot did come back and testify in SVU.

She came back in "Ghost" before returning to Witness Protection, which she later left because her life was no longer endangered, according to Dick Wolf.

well se went on trial to put the ghost in jail so seh came out of protection and that was in 2005 and this is in 2006

If you remember the episode "Ghost" from SVU, we learn that her name was now Emily, she was an insurance/real estate person, and that she was dating some dude. She came out to testify against the drug dealers killer and then went back in to WP, while it has not been said that she was taken out of WP it can be assumed by the fact she was in NY again and was given back her real name, which still doesn't make sense b/c if she was "dead" then she couldn't go back and reclaim her name, in theory, what they should've of done do a crossover of SVU & Conviction.

Just how close can I get Lord to my surrender without losing all control.

In case anyone is interested, Alex is coming back to SVU starting March 10 for a six episode arc. Perhaps they'll explain everything then?

It makes more sense for Cabot to come out of Witness Protection than it does for Finn, Rossi, and Steele (and maybe others) to show up on the other L&O franchises as completely different characters. What's up with that?

I think Wolf tends to use the performances of one shot characters in casting, such as Ice-T as a dead pimp in 'Exiled', S. Epatha Merkerson in the 1991 episode 'Mushrooms', and most notably Defense Attorney Frank Lehrman again from a 91 episode would be brought back as Det. Leonard Briscoe

I thought about that from Day One. Nonetheless, I love this show and wish it had stayed on. It's BETTER than all the Law & Order shows!
