Just A Little Confused...

So.. they kept the bodies for what reason exactly? I know they said to amplify the seances but what exactly does that mean.. cuz i thought that was the whole thing of the 'ectoplasm'

also why all the incriptions on the bodies.. it seemed like some kind of dark magic.. what was the real reason for him cutting off their eyelids.. did i just miss something? Because I saw when they were trying to come up with reasons why.. but it didn't seem like they ever came to a real conclusion..

When the reverend called them on the pay phone while the girl was in the shower he said that he was wrong before, and that they did it to make the dead unseen.

They didn't really go into why the mortician was trying to amass his power, but that was what he was trying to do. He kept the bodies hidden in the house rather than putting the bodies in the caskets so they would remain perpetually in a state of unrest an further fuel his necromancy. As the last person said, the eyelids were cut off so that other people wouldn't see them and get wise to what was going on.

I wonder about decomposition. I know he was a mortician and properly embalmed the bodies, but they would still decompose a bit within the walls and I can't imagine a layer of gypsum and wood would keep that hidden.

Overall I thought it was a decent flick. Did a few semi original things and didn't try to get too overwrought as is often the case with movies of this type.
