Please don't think I am silly, but I hope someone can enlighten me please.
Basically, when Matt hacked into the wall with the axe (near the end of the movie,) and all the bodies fell out; I wonder why they were all fairly intact, and looked 'newly dead.' Surely after almost a century, they would be skeletons no?
Can anybody throw any light on this?
The bodies were probably embalmed by Ramsey Aickman using special chemicals or alcohol, possibly like the ones Matt (when possessed by Jonah) threw against the wall before he started the fire. Aickman most likely also used other instruments or ingrediants you see from his morgue to preserve the bodies as well. This was all part of his ritual to control the spirits.

Being preserved or not. Chemicals and the lot are nothing nice for one's nose.
