Cancer Question

It has to do with him getting the mri (or ct scan). I'm not sure what it's called though. Maybe someone who works in the medical field could answer better than I could.

Eta- I think it was a ct scan. I was just reading about them and it sounds like the machine they were using at the beginning of the movie. I can't find anything on what the thing covering his face is though.

I think he was receiving radiotherapy, just googled it and here is a quote from a website:
"External radiotherapy usually involves using a machine called a linear accelerator, which focuses high-energy radiation beams onto the area requiring treatment."
The mask is used as a kind of grid so that the beam is focused in the correct place each time the patient is treated.
