Well... That was an incredibly evil, twisted woman.
Thoughts anyone on if that was a fair and just revenge for his acts? (Okay, maybe not fair and just... but does anyone understand her actions? I still think she's just freaking psycho...)
"If you should need me, tap this staff three times on a wall." "Magic?" "No, it's just loud."
I can see why this never went to the theaters... I figured out that the wife was involved within the first 15 minutes. I guess the acting was fine, but the script/plot was terrible.
It was kind of dumb using the angry coworker as the disguise to the real plot. Psycopath husband trying to take his revenge, okay, I can deal with that, but the way they used Carl was just weak. Either he's really part of the plot or leave him out altogether.

If that's the case, you must be dumbfounded as to how any movie makes it to the theater.

Exactly. Some movies with huge promotions have no business making it to the theater. I thought Shattered was very good. Should have kept the original title.
God, that was a twist I didn't see coming. She hated her husband for the affair but shyt!! I'm not usually shocked watching movies but that ending floored me to no end.
At first I thought the whole thing was a set up by that guy Gerard Butler was working with, played by Nicholas Lea, cause Neil was always getting the attention and the praise at work. But I guess that was a red herring in the end.
As to the wife, I think that she had been unhappy with Neil for a long time, possibly even before they were married, and I got the sense that she felt like he never listened to her or took her seriously. He also seemed like an arrogant prick who seemed to have no problem having affairs behind her back. Does that justify what she did? It was extreme and evil and everything but I believe that she reached the point of no return and cracked. She wanted Neil to suffer like she had been. I got the sense that she, in a way, regretted marrying Neil and felt that her own wishes and desires were always set aside for his. Maybe reading too much into things here tho.
In a way I can understand why she did what she did. I'm sure that she was being eaten alive with hatred for his philandering and his all consuming career. He seemed to be a guy who was the king of the world and I'm sure that made Abby hate him more. So she played him like he played her, in her mind at least. She was thinking "I'll show him, I take his world apart." And she got what she wanted, didn't she? Neil was left a broken man who knows that his own wife loathed him to the point of making him believe that their daughter had been kidnapped. Her "love" for him was a performance only. He knows that now. What a revenge, huh?
She was batshyt crazy due to her hatred. It cracked her mind completely.
Maria Bello was FANTASTIC at the end. Great job by Butler and Brosnan too.
Didn't explain how the whole set up started though. I would have loved to have seen that.
Something that confuses me. When he pulled the gun on Tom's wife, and it was blank, Tom went off as if Neil had taken the load from it. Did I miss something or was that the case and Tom did in fact nearly have Neil kill his wife?
"If you should need me, tap this staff three times on a wall." "Magic?" "No, it's just loud."
Good question. I think that Tom was still screwing with Neil. Tom knew the gun wasn't loaded. He just wanted Neil and the wife scared out of their minds.
exactly... he knew it... just like neil's wife knew it and still u didn't see it coming 4 sure until she reveals herself at the very endin... Tom just wanted 2 prove 2 his wife that the affair was not LOVE... he said "u c how much he luvs u?" 2 prove her that eventhough 4 them it was A MEANINGLESS AFFAIR, 4 the betrayed Brosnan and Bello, it MEANT something... a GOODBYE 4 GOOD!!! excelent movie!!! can't believe it was only released in Miami and now on TNT what a waste!!!!!!!!!! +10
Tom wanted to show Judy, "your screwin this guy and he'd put a bullet in your brain." It was meaningless to the cheaters, but not to the cheated. I don't blame Abby and Tom for being pissed and wanting some revenge, but I think they both need a little time in a padded room. Hopefully in a different ward than Neil and Judy.
Well, I thought it was really good and didn't see the end coming. And I agree with lavance that Tom simply wanted to scare his wife and Neil. A bit of a wake up call, if you will. By the way, did anyone notice that IMDB has their names as Neil and Abby Warner and not Randall? Just thought that was odd.
"Thoughts anyone on if that was a fair and just revenge for his acts?"
Well, that was pretty much the point of the story. As big a jerk as the husband was, the punishment didn't fit the crime. It's like putting a butterfly on a wheel...
Admittedly, the movie didn't work. Gerard Butler over-acted (and reacted)from the get-go instead of working himself up to it. For me, Maria Bello is never believable as a normal wife and mother. She always looks like a hooker.
Pierce was very good, though. Except I don't understand the significance of his changing his Dublin accent to a Belfast accent.
