You are under arrest-----*some SPOILERS*----

--- My first post here and really, I am serious.

Didn't anyone else think there were a few laws broken here and there?

I would think if not criminal proceedings, there would be grounds for civil lawsuits against Ryan and Abby for harassment and criminal kidnap (of Neil), assault by Ryan of Neil and Abby, assault of Ryans wife by Neil, etc.

Its never brought up - and I've been reading all the threads - but laws were broken. Adultery is not a criminal offense, unless guns, kidnapping and assault are involved, and here all were.

Not a great film - my rating 7/10 - but the more you think about it, the more you think about it.

I had the same reaction. Neil was a jerk but everybody else was a criminal. None of the main characters are sympathetic. The screenwriter needed to go back and watch a few Hitchcock movies for character development instead of just borrowing plot conventions.

Yes, no redeeming values in any of the characters. You have to care about them to really get into the journey they take, and the lack of character development didn't allow that. Hence a bit of the blah feeling when it's all over. Good potential, and decent actors, but the material and direction left a lot to be desired.

It has sparked a lot of discussion though....so maybe there is something more than meets the eye.

Curious to see DVD version to see what was left out.

Songs out of tune, the words always a little wrong...Canzoni Stonate

My roommate and I watched it the other night and came away wondering why she didn't just divorce him on grounds of adultery and take him for every penny he had?

It's a lot simpler, well-deserved, and less annoying for everyone (Me, namely).

Besides, I've seen 300. I had a hard time believing 50-something Pierce Brosnan could overpower King Leonidas. I know Gerard Butler wasn't in "300-shape" but give me a break!

reply

---LOL! Pierce banging on Gerry, throwing him around and no hits back - uh-no it's not believeable.

Guess our King is supposed to be a wonkaholic and a lover not a fighter, but cum-mon. He still looked pretty fit ta me.

Actually, he did hit Pierce, the only problem with that scene when it happened: Pierce didn't even flitch.

reply

henninggirl, I thought the same thing, I also had a hard time believing. You know Gerard would have just whipped Pierce to the ground.

Actually, he was pretty close to 300 shape. He finished "300" in January 2006 and moved to start filming Butterfly on a Wheel in March 2006.

Which might lead you to ask why the long wait for Butterfly when "300" was a lot more difficult in post production and came out in March.

---and here we are just getting to see it. Begs the question - why?

$20 mil of someones money to make the film. Wonder if they made it back with the sale to Lionsgate. And, in turn, if Lionsgate made what they paid for the rights to distribute it, on the sale to TNT?

Lots of questions.

Well, he looked "300" great in "Shattered." Even though he said he pretty much fell apart after he quit training. But you know, Trenna, I take everything he says in interviews with a grain of salt. He likes to be entertaining. The lug!

Yeah, I was thinking if Abby went to court over this, then Neil talked about how they basically kid napped him and the assault on Judi, Abbi and Ryan could actually go to prison. Oh yeah, great plan, Abbi. That plan just wasn't thought out at all.

reply

Only one problem, no evidence other than Neil's words against Ryan and Abby's.

reply

No evidence...what about the empty folder, what about Ryan's wife, what about the physical damage to Neil, what about the physical damage to the car, the testimony of the people in the restaurant, the items sold to the pawnshop, the testimony of the pawnshop owner, physical evidence of Ryan in Neil's car, testimony of Ryan's son, Neil's prints on Ryan's gun, a briefcase in the water containing burned money and newspapers, footage from traffic cameras from all the crazy lights Ryan ran, the police officer who saw the three of them with the car in the bank? I think I could sink the two of them in court.

reply

Also Abby story to the cops doesnt match with the evidence Green just said

reply

i heard this the other day,,
not when, not how, the main question should be WHY?

and after watching this movie, my question is WHY?
Why they would make a film like this?
Why those to Looser will team up and set up this whole story just to teach the cheating husband a lesson?
Why i fell for this movie and wasted my 2 hours?
Why?

reply

yes but if they prceeded with charges, it would have exposed a lot of Neils dirty business at work.

Neil was no Saint remember as they painted him to be in the first 15 minutes or so...

Abby was in on it, so why would she file for assault on TOM? etc etc etc

many more points to bring up, but not worth it, because overall the only one with a case would be Toms wife against Neal for the assault, but she wouldnt do that, or Neil against TOM, but TOM has all the files of Neils shady business ventures and methods...

reply

what to stop Tom WIFE from pressing charges though

Lady had a GUN put to her head thanks to Tom and was roughed up

who knows what this nutball can do next if he not locked up
