How did Butterfly on a Wheel get an R rating?

It was a good movie, not brilliant, but pretty decent. But how in the hell did it get the R rating? I mean, there wasn't even a single gunshot fired, not to mention that no one was killed, and there were almost no blood (there's a scratch on Neil's face and Abby has a minor nosebleed).

It should be PG-13, at most. I really don't get this rating system...

In majority of Europe it got from 0-12 rating.

do they say the "F" word in any variation, more than once? If they do, that's an automatic R...silly, isn't it? Have you watched "This Film is Not Yet Rated"? It's a documentary about the MPAA and the corrupted ratings system...I definitely reccomend it!

Hmmm, I think they actually did say *beep* once or twice. It's funny because I saw Rambo the day before and Rambo's R rating is more than well deserved. But this... It says on imdb "Rated R for some language and violence", but I've seen teen comedies with more violence, and certainly more language.

I know the MPAA sucks balls, and I'll definitely watch "This Film Is Not Yet Rated".
