would you have pulled a trigger

lets say you thought you daughter was going to be murdered thanks to your insane wife mind games

Would you have pulled the trigger if you thought it would save her

me would of tried to wound the guy, and torture him for info

Way I see if I can bring myself to kill an innocent (which I might not be able to)

but if I COULD. bring myself to kill..I am guessing I probally could bring myself to torutue some guy I despire for a few hours. He aint a trained Taliban agent...he will talk

I probably wouldn't have been able to withhold myself from trying to attack Tom when he first shows up in the car--even at the risk of someone getting shot--I'd slam on the brakes and take my chances. But even barring that, I at least wouldn't have left the bank without calling the police (dialing 911 and explaining the situation, including that they need to check on my daughter at home before showing up and alerting the guy in my backseat).

you know....

I spend all movie figuring out how many times I could try to change the situation, and I think there are a lot...

but after knowing she's also in it to uncover the truth, it explains a lot of the actions...

if someone comes n tells you his friend has a gun to your kid's head, everything else would become secondary. and the kidnapper also tell you - one smart-alec move on your part, your daughter is ash, coz i got nothin to lose.. i'd pretty much do EVERYTHING WITHIN my dignity to save my kid ......but at any point i feel humiliated beyond repair (like the red dress scene), then i might just lose it and kill him.

It's simple. I don't have a daughter so I would not know. If anyone believes that their daughter is about to be killed, then one will weigh the values. Your daughter's life vs. your own life and another person's life. If you value your daughter's life, then you would be willing to commit murder. If not, then you would not.

So the question isn't "would you have pulled a trigger", but really "whose life do you value more".

This goes with any criminal activity as well. People do not act out of pure evil motivations. It is people weighing their values and choosing what they think is the right thing to do. With criminal activity, the judicial system just does not agree with your values.

I would pull the trigger, without a doubt. Whether or not it is moral (it is not), I would value the life of a family member infinitely higher than a stranger, acquaintance or even a friend.

Nicely put.

In times of danger you do not think, you act. Whether someone is attacking your pet or a family member you would act without thinking to do whatever it costs to protect them even if its immoral. At times of fight or flight your morality switch usually turns off. I have been in that situation myself when I had to protect my pet from another animal that was trying to attack it.
