Question About Ending *SPOILERS*

Why is it that suspense movies with a twist ending always have to add one too many twists?

I watched this movie last night and enjoyed it. When the first twist was established (the kidnapper's wife is who he wants the protagonist to kill) I thought it was great. But then they had to make Bello's character "in on it" and I really thought that was overkill and totally lame.

Another movie I saw recently with this problem was a Ray Liotta movie -- Slow Burn.

*SPOILERS*

I liked it, too. I thought it was cool when LL Cool J was thought to be the villain. But then the guy from the jail turned out to be the villain is was heavy handed and silly.

Why can't they let a good thing be? The extra twists are just LAME, IMHO.

End rant.

I didn't see the other movies you refer to--but as far as this one goes--it ONLY makes sense that she orchestrated the whole thing. Tom would never have masterminded all the twists and turns to arrive at the point where we do at the end.

The whole movie is, I'll admit, pretty far fetched (though I did enjoy it!) But, it is only realistic for me if she is the one serving up the revenge.

Here's an example:

The phone number--to the hotel... he would have had to rely on them finding the number and gambling on the change of plans. With her in on it--it is easier to conceive that this turn of events was inevitable because it is she who spots the phone.
