I personally don't think ANYTHING would be as hard as that, and certainly nothing as petty as an affair (in comparison). These people wasted tax-payers money to foolishly teach their spouses a lesson, making Gerard's character so betrayed, and hurt. just to show him not to have an affair? If his daughter had died then what? It's not like by having an affair he was taking Sophie away from the mom. He loved her and wanted to give the best life for them. I am not condoning cheating in any way, but I think their are more mature, selfless ways to handle those situations. I don't think making someone you loved for years fear for their life, their security, and their family is equivalent to having an affair. I think it demeans kids who are in danger. (like the boy who cried wolf)
