I would deffinately recommend this film.
It reminds me somewhat of "The Game" with Michael Douglas and Sean Penn.
Pierce Brosnan is OK in this movie, but I would have choosen someone else if I was casting this movie, the role that Brosnan is playing should really be played by someone that is relatively unknown.
I would give this film a 7 of 10

As for the twist at the end, i saw it coming less than 30 mins. into the plot.

I think 98% of the movies have unreal, unbelievable storylines and characters who are not 'real'.
Think of Die Hard for example... no one bitches about some drunk cop who doesn't stop smoking and can dodge 1000 bullets that he is 'unreal'.
Same goes for Spiderman, Pirates of the Caribbean etc... but nobody complains about it.
I liked this movie. I'd give it a 7/10. Not a classic, but not bad either.

You asked if this film is good or bad because it received mixed comments. Well, I have seen The English Patient receive comments like "Yawning Fest" and Braveheart receive "Terrible Movie... Not Worth Watching". Yet those films altered many lives, mine included.
Half-wits, drunks, people with grudge, people with frustration, they come here too you know. It's not just a place for people of good taste. So, I guess every film, at some point of time, will earn some mindless horrible comments. But that does not tell you anything about the film, really.
So, if possible, instead of asking people here, watch the movie. It only takes an hour and a half, will take less if you skip the credits. Then you will know yourself.
you got a good point shushens! ;) , cause most (if not all) of what you said is pretty much true.... i personally think Braveheart (1995) is a GREAT film... easily my favorite 'old school swords type' movie... i give it a sraight up 10/10 then i would probably place Gladiator in 2nd place @ either a 9/10 or maybe even 10/10.
sharei would say in simple terms, either thumbs up or thumbs down... i would say thumbs up ;)
the movie is better than majority of movies that come out although for a brosnan movie i would easily choose movies like (james bond movies aside since those i think where his best in general)... 'The Thomas Crown Affair' (1999) (8/10), 'After The Sunset' (2004) (8/10), 'The Matador' (2005) (8/10) and probably 'Saraphim Falls' (2006) (7/10) over this film.
bottom line for Butterfly on a Wheel = 7/10 ;)
I'll say it's ok and worth watch for one time. I am a big thriller movie fan and will rate it neither great nor bad, but just ok (6/10).

Its not as bad as these haters make it out to be.
The acting is probably the worst part of this film, but other than that if you like plot twists then you'll love this. Its also a very cruel film, some parts just make you say "WTH, your an A hole!" so its not for those who watch 'happy go lucky' movies. After a while you didnt know where the movie was gonna go next. The twists are very impressive by the way.
Hope I was helpful, but dont take these haters seriously because most of them most likely hate great movies anyway (Titanic is an obvious 'haters choice').

I have mixed feelings about this movie. Is it good? It could be much better. I was not impressed with Maria Bello's acting, but she wasn't that bad. Pierce Brosnan seemed like he didn't want to be there and Gerard Butler is half really really good, half meh (he can sure cry though). As for the plot, sure, it is not much believable. Who cares? If you're looking for something believable, don't watch an Hollywood flick. It is entertaining past the first 20 minutes (where I had to fight to stay awake). And I was taken aback by some moments of the movie, cursing myself for not seeing them coming. It is cruel and no parents would want to be in this situation.
i recommend it because it keeps you entertained.
personally, there are people on this website that just love to bash every single movie ever created. i suppose it gives them some sort of pleasure.
the movie was not the next Lord of the Rings and the plot was predictable at times (although at other times, totally NOT, i don't care what these people say, they could have NEVER seen some of that stuff coming)
but it's a good movie with some good actors. and even if you get bored at times, there's still quite a lot to keep your eyes entertained (for girls, pierce AND gerard? BAH! INCREDIBLE! haha)
if it seems to be interesting to you, watch it! it doesn't matter what i or anyone else say.
Yes, I'd recommend it. It was better than I expected.
