The second Brosnan Burnt the 'money' it gave away the twist

I guessed the rest of the movie from that one scene, nobody burns $140,000 and Mario Bello was the only one who could have made the custom fake money suitcase.Bad move putting that in.

Well I dont think it gave it away generally, cos the film marketed as "he is a psycho who kidnaps the daughter" and if the psycho didn't want the money then we as an audience should be like "Oh my god, what more could he want!!!" it was to make us not know what to expect from brosnan. Some people like you may work it out but most people won't. go you for being intuitive :)

I figured out it was her because she was so in control in the bank, it just made no sense to me. The burning of the money didn't tip it off for me though.

He was doing everything to ruin Neil. Burning the money was more shocking and hurtful than if the money were simply stolen. It's very believable that he would shock Neil by burning the large sum of money because the money was so important to Neil. I almost expected that his beautiful home would be burned down. This would be another example of being hurtful to the victim even though it would not benefit the perpetrator in any way.
