C'mon guys this is gonna be a great documentary 'bout the Cosmos and how bringin big stars to the NASL did more damage to the american soccer landscape than did good i mean even cossel said "this league is gonna be tyhe biggest league" and look what happened
thank god MLS is takin' it one step at a time and now u can se the results of good mangement in two+ years there would be at least 8 soccer especific stadiums in the league(ohio, L.A., Dallas, Chicago, New York, Salt Lake, D.C., Toronto, Colorado, etc.) i mean Thats growth and progress dont u think?.

Is this a straight to DVD release, or is it going to one or two theaters first? The Cosmos were a major part of my life as a kid in NY. Just thinking about Chinaglia, Beckenbauer, Bogicevic, and company again has me smiling.

Tucker:[long pause]What are they talking about? Church: You know what? I *beep* hate you.

It has just hit a very limited number of cinemas in the UK. All in big cities and they're either independent cinemas or cinemas which usually have obscure/independent movies.

To say the NASL did more damage to American soccer than good is just wrong. Yes it was mismanaged, and yes it was overhyped, but nothing that MLS has accomplished (or will accomplish) could have happened without the NASL. One of the biggest problems for the NASL was that they tried to establish soccer as a major league sport without any true grass roots infrastructure...there were not enough kids playing at the time time to provide top American talent. But since the arrival of Pele, youth soccer leagues have flourished, there is more talent than ever before, and now MLS has more American born talent than the NASL could ever imagine. The NASL's problem is they tried to build a league from the top down, instead of from the bottom up...it collapsed because there wasn't a good foundation. But it was fun while it lasted.

I was one of two in the Greenwich Picturehouse but it has had virtually no promotion, other than appearing on some news programmes and I saw it at 4.30 on a Monday.

reply

Had to travel to central London to see this yesterday.

Only about 5 people (including me) in the theatre. I am sure when this gets a DVD release it will do really well.

Limited release in the States probably means it will run in NYC for a week and be out on DVD by the World Cup final. Sad, this film could do for nostalgic sports fans what "54" did for nostalgic cokeheads!
