How come Willy's boss didn't twig to the change of charges possibility?


I found that bit annoying, probably more than all the other stuff I didn't find realistic.

Well he did and he clued Willy into that fact at his house. But he still didn't believe there was any extra evidence to make it worthwhile to keep pursuing Ted on a murder charge. 🐭

Because, unlike Willy, he knew that double jeopardy *would* attach, and Crawford couldn't be charged with murder. : /

OK, but within the (flawed, in this regard) movie, the DA "missed" this so that we'd see that Willy is sharper than he, having mega-brains behind his charm, swagger, and passing-off of cases he knows are losers so as to keep his winning percentage as high as it is.
