I read on Moviehole that this movies is essentially based on Linson's experiences with Alex Baldwin on The Edge in 98. Anyone who has seen this get that vibe?

In the DVD commentary Linson does say the Bruce Willis/beard incident is based on something that happened with Alec Baldwin. He said that Baldwin's "revenge" for being made to shave the beard was not to make eye contact with the director for the duration of the shoot.
