Because it's not trivial. Actors like to reveal and even critique their world. Sunset Blvd., Get Shorty, America's Sweethearts are three others that quickly come to mind.

Its a film about Hollywood so they needed real stars and Levinson does have clout. He is an Oscar winning film director.
