Anyone else hooked by the opening of this film?

I had no intention of watching Stardust when it first came out and didn't even consider giving it a download. But when staying at my father's house while visiting family, it was in the DVD player in the guest bedroom and I decided to give it a whirl. I was so mesmerized by the opening few minutes that I had to watch the whole film.

I don't know if there's been a better intro in film over the last 5 years.

I agree! The first five minutes made me keep watching, I was completely enthralled. Im glad I did, the movie was amazing!

I totally agree. My friends, brother and I didn't know anything about this when we went to see it at the theater, and I was mesmerized from the beginning. That doesn't happen very often. Usually you have the obligatory "Here's some music to get you through the opening credits. See you in a couple minutes." It's like riding a really slow elevator.

I was mesmerized by the young version of Tristan's father. He's kinda cute. And yes, I really like the opening when Tristan's dad tried to go over the walls. Funny movie.

it's Ben Barnes that plays young Dunstan (Tristan's father)...

Loved the opening, but not the rest so much. Once Yvaine comes into it, I started to dislike both leads immensely and just kept watching for Pfeiffer. It was okay overall, but damn you opening for fooling me into thinking this was a better film than it really was.
