but I just couldn't. I hated Tristan; he was the worst hero of all time! He did nothing likeable and nothing cool, not even anything interesting. He always had his same goofy smile that was usually out of place. I don't know anything about Charlie Cox, and I honestly didn't think HIS acting was too bad. But the role of Tristan was awful.
I wasn't sold on Claire Danes either. But with her, it is her acting I generally dislike.

But the story itself was very interesting. It had a good story and interesting characters (Tristan ad Yvain notwithstanding). It was definitely very original. I just couldn't get past how bad of a character Tristan was, and Claire's mediocre at best acting.

Last movie watched: The Muppets 9/10

I found that I was very iffy when I first saw it, with Claire Danes especially, but after watching it a couple more times it grew on me. I still think some of her dialogue doesn't fit and she's a bit mean, but otherwise I quite like it.

Maybe try watching it again? (If you can, LOL)

I wanted to like it, too. I feel like I'm supposed to like it - it has everything a nerd like me loves:

good set up, beautiful settings, flying ships, falling stars, a strong villain, a blend of the real world with a fantastical one, shape-shifting, adventure, action, a love story, dancing, simple but classic morals of the tale, an imperfect hero and heroine, sibling rivalry, prophecy, unexpected little twists, etc.

Things I can really get behind in a fantasy film.

But I can't. And I blame the leads. If you remove Claire Danes and Charlie Cox and replace them with any two actors of your choosing, the film goes better in your head. Try it. Even try it with one of the two actors and it's better - but much better without both of them.

Finally caught this film on Netflix because Matthew Vaughn is definitely one of the best up and coming directors in my opinion.

I gotta say that yeah I didn't like Tristan all that much nor the girl. I agree the lead actors are probably the main reason I didn't enjoy this film a lot. Again, big fan of the director; but not so much for this movie. Wanted to like it, but it was just meh.
