Book earned the realtionship and love far better than the movie

The book did a really good job of developing the main character's relationship over the course of it that changed and truly become something of a real love that was earned between the two. The movie felt like it cheated on that big time by skipping over conflicts and how he treated her when her first took her captive at the start of the book. She absolutely loathed him. He wasn't into her at all, but you saw how he realized what a piece of crap thing it was to do this. The book this develops very well over their journey into something real and special. The movie just blows by it all and says "yep...they are in love now" and I didn't feel like there was much conflict when he literally enslaved her in the movie like the book.

IT has been quite a while since i have read the book, or seen the movie, but I remember distinctly that this is why I disliked the movie when I saw it. I absolutely adored the book so I was completely ready to love the movie, but I simply was not moved in the same way by their journey and them falling in love as I was by the book and it's not even close. The movie is just too whimsical and doesn't seem like it takes the development of their relationship seriously.

Victoria was far more likable in the movie too compared to the book so that made it even more ugly because Tristan became a bit egocentric later on. He was nothing like that in the book. He had a much better heart.
