Can't believe this is rated more than 5 stars!?

It's so predictable and treats viewers as idiots! No real plot and it just drags the story out! Really bad makeup too !

Spoiler alert: Why is the witch so slow at killing them in the end?! Why bother when you just want to live forever. No she hesitates and release them and ending up walking slowly down stairs with a lifted knife... Why!? Idiotic! Why is she exploding mirrors when it does nothing to harm them?!!
Why is the heavier witch just letting the animals eat her? She has magical power and she does nothing. If they also have a voodoo doll then why not use that on the boy?

Worst of all: if starlight makes witches explode then why didn't she do it right away when she was lying on the table and she sees Triatan has come to save her?! And why isn't Triatan exploding when the starlight shines?

Omg there are so many *beep* things in this movie. Most makes no sense or just seem too irrational, like us viewers are just dumb or kids.

there is nothing new to this movie and most CGI effects are quite bad. Even for a 2007 movie where most actors are high end talent - just not with this director.

I enjoyed some of the movie but only as a 5 out of 10. Don't get it's rated higher than this.

A lot of this is answered in the film. Even a cursory glance would reveal the answers to your rhetorical questions.

Lamia says to Tristan "I owe you thanks, boy. What use was her heart to me when it was broken."

Yvaine also says "No star can shine with a broken heart."

As to your other comments, that's pure opinion. The makeup was absolutely fantastic. This film was underwritten by private entities. They did a fantastic job with the budget. That's my opinion.
