It Got Heavy. Fast.
By the last few episodes, there were no more shows on the luminous stage. The comedic elements were overthrown by the dramatic: flashbacks to hard times, POWs, mother and child fighting for their lives, lonely hallways with bad lighting. There’s the ray of hope to wrap up the show, but by that time it had become another beast. I’m not complaining. It might be the best realised Sorkin passage of rollercoaster emotions. But I see how it could have driven the audience away.
