anyone here watch The Newsroom?

Its getting a longer life than S60 because it went to HBO. Its a great show! I highly recommend it.

Yep, it's great!

Love anything by Sorkin - Studio 60, The West Wing, A Few Good Men, The Social Network etc.

I was so excited when I heard he'd done a new TV show, and so far I haven't been disappointed. :-)

I know what you meant, but I can't help but point out that "S60" actually has more episodes (22) than "TN"(19)!

reply

Newsroom is getting a third season, and the average Newsroom episode is longer.
Did not do the exact math yet, but as of now, there should be more minutes of Newsroom than of Studio 60

reply

Nope.

S60: 22 x 44 mins = 968 mins

TN: 19 x 50 mins = 950 mins

reply

TN: 19 x 50 mins = 950 mins

The average Newsroom episode is closer to 55 minutes, many are longer than 55 minutes, even on European TV (25fps)
Even more if I include the previously, but I am not sure, whether the previously and the next time should count for the episode. They seem to be part of the international package though.

Why in the world would you include the "previously on" as part of the episode?

Because it is part of the episode. Why wouldn't I include them?
(Sometimes the contents are even mentioned in scripts.)

On Studio 60 there is no doubt that it is part of the episode. So it is part of the episode's length.

On The Newsroom I am not sure, because it comes before the opening HBO logo, and has its own copyright notice on some international broadcasts, same goes for the next time trailer. On the other hand both are produced in the show's style, and not in the network's style, as far as I can tell, and they are also included in international broadcasts, have an IT, etc.
So I am inclined to include them in the episode's length.

Anyway, even without them, I guess The Newsroom would come out on top, minutewise.

I do! I enjoy Sorkin's shows. For me, it goes like this:

Best: The West Wing
2nd: The Newsroom
3rd: Studio 60

Haven't watched Sports Night though.
