Ben's assistant's Ex just happened to run a magazine that specialised in spirit photography, huh? Ain't that convenient??
"You know what? Those WERE the droids you're looking for!!!"
Or perhaps the ghost chose to make herself known to them through the photographs not only because of Ben's photography career (quite poignant really), but because Ben had a connection with a girl who would KNOW what the photos were making it easier for the wife to discover the truth behind the situation.
