How long had she been dead? I'm assuming 2 years right?, for as long as Joshua Jackson's character had been away?...also, if this is correct, why did no one look for her? There were friends/family at the funeral...you would let 2 years go by without a visit, phone call, email, text? Thanks.
I found myself wondering the same thing. However, if you recall, there was discussion that she didn't have much of a life apart from her job as a translator, and that she just lived with (or took care of?) her late father.
Perhaps the audience is supposed to believe that no one looked for her because she was a loner and didn't divulge information about herself.
Still, I agree with you regarding the friends and family at the funeral, as it's a bit of a contradiction. Again, maybe the audience is supposed to make the inference that her death garnered publicity and therefore drew curious onlookers? Or maybe I am just giving too much credit where none is due?!
I think most of us can think of aunts and uncles and cousins and such that we haven't heard from for years but would be likely to show up at our funerals if we died.
If I found out that someone I went to school with died, I would go to their funeral even if we hadn't spoken for 10 or 20 years. Just because I USED to know them well, at one time. Same is true for neighbors at former residences of mine. So maybe the attendees were old classmates or neighbors rather than current friends.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. -Edison
