A Couple of Questions

Ok - I've watched the movie, and I've got a couple of questions:

1) I'm totally confused about the timeline of Magumi's (the girl/ghost's) death. When they hit her in the road at the beginning of the movie, is she still alive, living her life, and is basically projecting herself into the photos, so she's totally unharmed because she's not actually, physically there? And if so, is she alive and going about her life during the first half of the movie, but messing with them as kind of an astral projection because she's so angry, etc? Or does she actually, physically get hit on the road, and die? Or was she dead before they came to Japan, and she's been messing with them as the ghost of a girl who's dead the whole time?


2) Is that Magumi sitting behind the reception desk in the office building when Ben first returns to work and introduces Jane to his friend? The second lady, sitting behind the desk - the one who makes eye contact with Jane. Is that her, or just someone who looks alot like her?

3) Why does the medium freak out at the sight of the photos?
