I laughed....

When it was revealed at the end that the girl had been sitting on his neck the whole time. I mean, it's supposed to be this big scary twist and I laughed. I'm so mad at that LOL.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

The idiot is leaning forward looking decapitated and then you see his own personalized fraternity brand on his neck, and then the door closes after they leave his food and you see "her" leaning on his back...what f-ckery!

"I told ya I was trouble...you know that I'm no good."

I think every woman who has ever had to deal with an idiot guy like that had a good chuckle at that. He was a player, then cons this real pretty and nice blond young woman to marry him and he lies to her the whole time and she is willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and then BAM!! She discovers what a scumbag he really is and leaves his ass. Then Megumi locks him the door and seeks her revenge and he fries his brain and then he is stuck with her. I am not sure if she wanted him all to herself or was just enjoying the satisfaction of knowing that he was all alone and miserable until he has died.

I didn't laugh so much as I chuckled with satisfaction because I have known guys/men like that and thought how nice it would be if they went through just a little of that.

It looked silly on the American version, it looked spooky on the original, in my opinion.

You DO know Megumi was a psychopath, right? She was the one who started stalking HIM? The guy was indeed a scum-bag but the woman wasn't any better, to be honest.

Yeah totally, cuz everyone knows that stalking someone and watching someone get raped and damaged for life are ENTIRELY THE SAME.

reply

Yeah, really. I couldn't believe that comment. I'm not a feminist or anything, I don't think men are more likely to be awful people, but Ben truly was a scumbag and Megumi was a MUCH better human being. She was a stalker and acted inexcusably, but she didnt do anything half as hurtful or damaging as Ben.

Ben should have told his boss about her behavior or called the police or something. I've had a situation where someone crossed boundary lines with me so I have no pity for Ben or how he handled it. Any halfway decent human being doesn't just allow someone to be raped.

I turned to my wife and said it was lucky the ghost wasn't really fat. I could see a spoof where the ghost is huge (Big Momma's House huge) and he can't stand up straight.

Merry Christmas ya filthy animal.

A lot creepier in the original version (as are all the scenes they ripped off and butchered), but that has been ruined for you now as you'll see everything coming.

I agree, the original is MUCH creepier.

Stalking? Her father died, she was depressed and expected her 'boyfriend' to be there with her. Depression is regarded as a mental illness so calling her a psychopath is a bit more than is needed.

I mean they raped her...

I can't believe your response, it reads like a justification.

But holy hell did I LOL when the photo pops up of her on his neck. And then when he burned himself with the lightbulb. And then him trying to kill himself.

Exactly. We only hear Ben's side of the story and there are hints throughout the movie that he wasn't as good a boyfriend as he seemed. The scene that stuck out for me was when Jane was scared and wanted to discuss the car accident at the start of the movie, he blew up at her and said something like "I'm not your goddamn father". He seemed to interpret questions and a desire for support as "clinginess", so it's entirely possible that Megumi wasn't as clingy as he claimed and that he was simply getting tired of her.

Though I'm surprised there are people who think Megumi was as bad as Ben was. Even if she was clingy, that certainly isn't an excuse to rape her! That's kinda the point of the whole movie. His actions weren't remotely justifiable and that's why Megumi's ghost sought not only revenge, but to show Jane what sort of man she had married.
