Why? Both are highly successful actors in their own right.

Jackman was jealous that Bale was a legit magician, while he was only an illusionist. And no matter what great trick he was able to come up with, Bale could always top it. Including in the end.
Bale was jealous of Jackman's showmanship, and no matter how great the tricks he came up with, he couldn't present them as well as Jackman could, thus he would always be the bigger the star. Also half of him was jealous that he had Olivia.
Not only all that, but Angier was also jealous that Borden had a family which he felt should've been his.
