Not funny or good because of the ridiculous concept

More than in other genres, movies about everyday relationships need to have some root in reality, so that people can relate to them.

While a lot of observations about men and women in this movie (and the comedy attached to that) were not wrong (or unique), the movie still didn't work because they were presented within a framework that just doesn't ring true.

The notion that a woman would force a hall pass on her husband because he looks at another woman's ass, is simply too farfetched (the occasional exception notwithstanding).

The fact that everybody knows that, undermines the entire movie.

[Even the realization by one of the two women at the end, namely that she wanted the hall pass for herself, doesn't change this imho...irl it just wouldn't happen and the woman would rather cheat herself than allow the husband to cheat]

will you do us a favor and get a sense of humor ? it was funny, the concept maybe unrealistic but not out of the question... good movie.

reply

Well, regardless of whether I have a good sense of humour or not, the movie bombed and has bad ratings both here and on rotten tomatoes.

I was just trying to find a reason for it...

reply

it had hilarious moments if nothing else. you dont know whether you have a good sense of humor or not? then you probably dont

reply

Apparently you don't understand my remark nor the word "regardless"...

This is probably as good as it's gonna get from you isn't it ?

Thanks for playing anyway...

reply

i no understand.... ratings are what they are. Leo Dicaprio has never won. that proves some things are *beep*

You came to a Farrelly Brothers movie and expected realistically-portrayed relationships?

Interesting....

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

I expected a funny movie, and I tried to explain why I thought it wasn't funny.

[I probably didn't even know it was a Farelly Brothers movie when I saw it (it was on tv)]

reply

That probably explains a lot...by "tv" I assume you mean heavily edited network or basic cable?

Watching a Farrelly brothers movie on basic cable, is about as fruitless as watching Scarface on TBS....why bother?
