Marvel can't be stopped. Ant-man biggest risk and great!

So, ant-man, the d lister, ant-man the one with a stupid name, ant-man with the troubled production, turns out to be a great movie. Who knew? My point is if marvel can make a great movie with this guy I don't think there's nothing to fear for the future! This was even more surprising than Gotg really.

With great characters like Black panther, dr. Strange and especially cap. Marvel what the hell can go wrong?

(Actually a lot, but this gives me hope)

Agreed!

Ant-Man was a slower moving motion picture. Ant-Man demonstrated the recipe of a well-written story. The movie had a moral undertone, and relationship dynamics, mixed with a dose of action thrown in here and there. In addition, it touched bases with other parts of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which strengthened audience anticipation of other movies and should bode well for future films. Great movie it's true.

My biggest fears in the mcus timeline were Antman and the future Mrs marvel film.Ant man was great, cant wait the treatment that carol danvers is going to have its going to be a difficult sell.Im also very surprised by a huge amount of naysayers of the next year Dr Strange installement many people think the concept is goofy, when is easily the concept with the greatest potential

reply

Dr Strange will be a natural success. Cumberbatch will pull in a massive audience on his own due to an insanely loyal fanbase.

reply

The problem with Doctor Strange is that it's got an incredible cast, but an awful direction/writing team.

Ant-Man was a pleasant surprise considering Peyton Reed had never made a good film before, but it seems like a huge risk trying that approach again.

Great at struggling to make money. I don't know what gives honestly, it's a decent flick.. but it's not selling a lot of tickets.

reply

when I was waiting in line last friday to get my ticket, I did hear some people complaining about too many superhero movies, so it might actualy be becoming a problem. also, Ant-Man didn't get as much advertising as most of the other movies (again, down here) and isn't as well known with the non-comic book fans

When I went last sunday it was sold out, however as soon as it was over 95% of the people left and you could hear some commenting on not wanting to waste their time with mid and post credit scenes too. The group of college dudes behind me were talking about the movie was ok but were also talking about how boring CBM's are becoming in general.

reply

My son and I were the only ones to stay for all of the credits. But, about 10 people came in to the theater before was over, so they saw the post-credit scene before they saw the movie. 

I have to say I'm torn. I like the extras, but I don't really like sitting there for that extra time to see them. I figure I'll see the movie on DVD before the next one comes out, so I can fast-forward to get to the end scene. Or, I can look it up online.

I know they are the money demographic they are looking for, but these guys also love movies like Fast & Furious and other mind-numbingly stupid movies, so I'd take what they say with a grain of salt.

reply

yup. the movies still work, and still pull people, but I have a feeling that they won't keep pulling the big masses for long. Meh, as long as they keep making them and I can go see em I'm happy :p

if the decline in vieuwers isn't too big I'm happy.

The movie more than works.

Honestly Ant-Man was Marvel's chance to fail, but it got pleasantly great reviews.

Yep, unexpectedly. Marvel does their best to please fans.

reply

Exactly! Marvel continues to excel because they understand their fanbase and how to make all their characters very likable. Even if the film itself isnt that great, you still end up loving most of the characters and stories are always fun enough that keeps people coming back.

Marvel 2015: Agents of Shield, Agent Carter, Avengers 2, Daredevil, Ant-Man, Jessica Jones!

reply

What film "hasn't been that great?" I think everything is well structured and well written, even things like Iron Man 2 which gets some criticism. That's their true strength. Good writing.

reply

If that's all it will take, we'll see.

reply

Marvel knows how to make good movies regardless of which character they are using.

WE GOT MOVIE SIIIIIGN!

Indeed.
