Who was driving the car that hit Sam Tyler?

I always thought that the driver of the car that hit him would be significant.

Theories?

That is a very good point! I thought that as well, wondered if it was significant, because when you see him get out of his car, you can see the car that hit him come round the corner of the street, I wondered "How the hell did he not see him?" So I assumed that somebody had done it deliberately.

I figured it might have been that guy that Sam could hear in his "head", the one that tried to kill him while he was in a coma, but nope...also it occured to me that the car stopped right after it hit Sam, if it was somebody who wanted him dead, they would of just driven off, hit 'n' run, surely?

Hmm, maybe it was just one of those things? Sadly we'll never know, unless they have the answer in Ashes to Ashes, but I highly doubt that.

A pissed-up retired Gene Hunt, who sees Sam and thinks *beep* me I thought he was dead!" shakes his head, swerves in the process and knocks over Sam. QED

reply

My vote is on Gene too

I am NOT a guy!!

reply

He was actually not hit by a car. It's explained at the end when they discover the reason he is in the coma: the brain tumor. He *thinks* he was hit by a car, when in reality, he was knocked unconscious by his tumor.

reply

Is that really what they said? I did not get that it was only the brain tumor -- I thought it was a combination of getting hit by the car then finding the tumor that inhibited his ability to recover.

Sokka: My first girlfriend turned into the moon.
Zuko: That's rough, buddy.

I thought the injuries cuase by being rammed with a crappy old Cavalier gave him the brain truma

reply

It's his head hitting the pavement which would have caused the brain trauma, but his erratic behaviour before the accident could have been attributed to the brain tumor.

Toonces, the driving cat.

I've only just finished series 1, but it might have been itneresting if it had been his father driving. Wouldn't that have been quite the shock to see his son/cop that let him escape 33 years later.
