'Upstairs inside' - I dont get it

Series 2; In one of the episodes (cant remember which one), Chris is talking about a date he's going on and Gene and Ray are talking about him getting 'upstairs, inside' and all that malarky.

In American parlaiance, Gene and Ray are talking about getting to second base with the girl.

Upstairs outside - hand on boob on outside of blouse
Upstairs inside - Hand on boob INSIDE blouse
I guess you can figure downstairs outside inside from there :)

I would have thought it more of;

Upstairs = Where the bedroom is.
Inside = as in you know.... inside.... her.

Yorkshire is a place. Yorkshire is a state of mind.

upstairs = mouth...
Downstairs = er... you work it out...

Elvira mistress of the dark is the coolest woman ever.
DCI Gene Hunt (UK) coolest man ever.

franz-villar has it exactly right. Anybody needing explanatory evidence should watch the 1970s BBC sitcom Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads, where Bob Ferris (played by Rodney Bewes) has to explain the lads' scoring system from their dating days to his fiancee, Thelma (Brigit Forsyth). I think it was in Episode 5 of Season 1 (titled I'll Never Forget Whatshername).
