Camberfield Green?

I was recently rewatching Life on Mars and I came across that stop motion show that was part of one of the episodes (with Gene Hunt stomping the snot out of some dude- very funny IMO). Apparently it was called Camberfield Green or something like that.

Was this some kind of kids show or something? Its definitely a cultural reference I am not familiar with.

reply

Yes, it was.

Camberwick Green. A popular animated kids' show in the 1970s (although it continued to be shown well into the 80s), aimed mainly at pre-schoolers, but also gained a cult following in later decades among adults who had grown up with it (along with its companion shows, Trumpton and Chigley).

Any Brit of a certain age would definitely get the reference!

As I am an American, that reference was lost on me. Thanks for the info.

As a person of a 'certain age', this makes me chuckle to this day. I positively hooted at the time.

Is it Gene Hunt? Is he kicking in a nonce?

Windy Miller NEVER did that.

"Is it Gene Hunt? Is he kicking in a nonce?"--one of my favorite lines to quote. And when both Gene and the kicked-in nonce wave hello.... hilarious!

STAY OUT OF CAMBERWICK GREEN!!!! hahaha.

The show was called Camberwick Green. It was a companion show to Trumpton and Chigley. Each episode began the same way as in LOM, with the narrator talking to the character that was the focus of each episode. It ran in the late 60's and early 70's and was a part of the BBC's lunchtime kid's progamming
