people who "dont get it" might be dumb

pretty self-explanatory story. like yeah i agree it's a bit confusing in the first 20-30 minutes, with the vague whispering and shots of the earth forming, but even then you can still kinda put the pieces together to understand what the meaning of it all is. but after that, once it gets into the kids growing up, there's no excuse for not getting it. it's incredibly straightforward and easy to follow if you're not an idiot, it's just told in a way that's not atypical for western filmmaking.

the same people who hate this probably love interstellar.

yep. it's for a "special" audience. which is not me.
I totally GOT it, didn't find it difficult at all, but the movie was not interesting to me at all. it was well made, yes. just not my kind of thing.

getting it and not liking are not mutually exclusive. I got it, didn't like it at all. I just prefer stories with a tighter direction and resolution. not that this is bad, it is simply not my taste.

and I do love interstellar, but don't see why that is related.
I'm also not a fan of "pretentious art films" that think they are important because they think they are important. I prefer being entertained, not ARTified.

as such, I have never watched this film more than once.

You can understand something and still think it's absolute fucking shit. You sound as pretentious as this film.
