I just finished seeing it.
I really loved the 1950's feeling. They recreated it great.
I loved most of the acting. I thought they did a great rendition of the period.
But I have no idea what this movie was about.
Such a fair question. Mostly I think it was about the shenanigans of the movie industry, but I don't think it was really trying for any deeper truth or anything.

Movie biz in a past era. There are many references to people and events in the 50s. I guess it helps if the viewer knows something about Hollywood in those days, but it's not essential.
Can't remember when I last heard someone mention Judy Canova!
