American Main Stream Journalists are the lowest form of life

The "hero" journalist myth was perpetrated in this movie. In real life, most main stream media journalists are scum sucking slime who have the intestinal fortitude of a worm, and will ignore truly important stories (like the Van Jones story) if it does not sit with their publisher's agenda.

As for the "conspiracy" plot, it was pretty predictable, with some twists at the end.

Russell Crowe was good, as usual.

Here's hoping there are some journalists have the heart and the balls to cover the truth.

i didn't think it was predictable... i was surprised...

i guess some people always expect twists...

r-matthew,

That's an interesting thought you've got there. I used to work as a journalist, but drifted away from the trade, partly because of the money, but also partly due to what you say, but I've never quite thought of it in those terms - do you have any suggested further reading to follow up on your thoughts?

Don't know if I agree with you 100%, but it certainly does go a long way to explaining much of what I hated in the corporate culture (and the bland stupidity and 'bandwagon' mentality)of the media.

Cheers.

You're view on American Main Stream Journalists is simply a blanket statement with no evidence to back it up. Have you ever thought that the corporations owning the different media outlets control what information is placed on their newspapers or displayed on their news channels or websites?

Did Fox News tell you to think this way? They're all the same... conservative or liberal news. What matters is money and anything that gets in the way of that money by hurting the company's well-being will be stamped out.

reply

Well, at least Fox News investigated and reported on Obama's "Green Jobs Czar" Van Jones, and got him fired.

At least Fox News investigated and reported on ACORN, and now both Democrats and Republicans are defunding that corrupt, tax payer funded organization.

At least Fox News reported on the "Obama Song" at the New Jersey elementary school.

The MSN certainly are ignoring those stories.

reply

Fox News didn't cover a lot of bad things from the Bush administration in regards to the events leading up the Iraq war and different unconstitutional practices on domestic soil. Stories that everyone else covered... and then were quickly labeled "Un-American" for criticizing the President. How quickly we forget.

Like I said... they're all the same. Fox News is not fair and balance and neither are any of the other News networks because they're owned by huge multinational corporations.

reply

If we’re going to talk about integrity in journalism, your argument on behalf of Fox News holds no water. Yes, they did carry out these investigations. But why? Because they’re always seeking to deliver the truth to the American people? No, I’ll tell you why - pure political motivation. They were investigating these stories to make the President and the Democratic Party look bad. If Fox had integrity, they would be investigating stories that would mar either party (And keep in mind, I would argue that MSNBC does the same for the Democratic party).

But true, no?

"pretty predictable, with some twists at the end"

If you can describe it like that, then I guess you could say Sixth Sense was "pretty predictable, with some twists at the end" too. Doesn't that statement contradict itself?

It's true that real journalism is dead but that's why I loved this movie. It turns preconceived notions on its ear. Liberal cheerleading journalism is being ignored and rightfully so. They slit their own throats.

The OP is hilarious. "Truly important stories" like Van Jones, LOL. And the Obama song uproar that the Daily Show beautifully eviscerated here: http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-october-29-2009/for-fox-sake-

And ACORN? LOL, I love how they've become the right wing's boogy man. They got a TOTAL of $53 million in funding since the early 90s!! Let's forget that bills of attainder are unconstitutional in the first place, but they actually made a big deal about ACORN and conveniently ignored that they also happily fund Blackwater and plenty of other corrupt organizations for WAY WAY MORE MONEY. Recently 30 Republican Senators even sided with a contractor in a case where one of their employees was gang raped!! The idiocy of the right never ceases to amaze me.

Oh come on, the lowest of the low American news journalist is 1 million times more credible than anyone who's ever worked for a British tabloid.

reply

What do expect, for them to quit, would that be better, it's an imperfect world. But I hear you, def could be more useful to the world

reply

Yes, quit and do the world a favor.
