Was Channings on-screen father abusive?
If so how bad was it?,I want to to know before I watch it.

It's mostly done off-camera. He just turns up with bruises, and the others acknowledge it. I think there's one bit where you see him start to get beaten up in the street, but it's a long shot and not that long.
