Often times, when the gang is going about their shenanigans, different members will break off into smaller groups.
What is your favorite duo out of the five? Mine personally is whenever Charlie and Dee team up, for example:

Mac And Dennis: Manhunters (human meat)
Charlie Goes America All Over Everybody's Ass
And more recently, The Gang Misses the Boat (def poetry LOL)
I agree with most posters that Dee is a good foil to another in a pairing. Charlie and Dee are great, but I might give the edge to Charlie and Frank even though Charlie and Dee bring out different aspects of their characters (compared to how they normally are in the group). Mac and Dennis made a good shout purely based on the Suburbs episode, but I just really like Dennis. Mac and Dennis brings out Mac's insecurities and Dennis' controlling/sociopath side. Dennis might be best by himself though.
